Introducing Novadesko

What Novadesko does, how the application is organised, which apps are available and where to start.

Novadesko is an invoicing and management platform built for Belgian freelancers and small businesses. It brings together, in one place, your invoices, estimates and credit notes, your purchases, your customers and suppliers, your catalogue, your bank, Peppol e-invoicing, automatic reading of your purchases by Novadesko Intelligence and a messaging module with your accountant. The application runs in the browser, on macOS and Linux, and on mobile, with the same data everywhere.

This page gives you an overview. The next pages of the Getting started section then guide you step by step, from creating your account to installing the apps.

The basic notions

Notion What it is in Novadesko
Company Your business or activity: identity, VAT number, logo, bank accounts, settings. The interface also calls it a "shop" or "store". A user can manage several companies and switches between them from the menu at the bottom of the sidebar.
Document An invoice, estimate, purchase order, credit note, receipt or purchase invoice. Each type has its own numbering and statuses.
Contact A customer or a supplier, with their record, their VAT number checked against VIES and their documents.
Transaction A money movement: payment received, expense, imported bank movement, cash register receipt. A transaction can be linked to a document to justify it.
Peppol The European e-invoicing network. Novadesko receives your purchase invoices in the Peppol Inbox and sends your sales invoices.
Add-on An optional module tied to your subscription. A module that is not included stays visible in the menu with a padlock.

The main screen

After signing in, you land on the Dashboard. The sidebar on the left groups the modules by section; clicking the logo collapses or expands it, and each section title can be folded.
