Connect your bank (PSD2) or import a CODA file

Link a bank account through PSD2 consent from Bank Sync, follow the connection and renew the consent every 180 days.

The Bank Sync screen ("« Synchronisez vos comptes bancaires (PSD2 / CODA) et justifiez chaque mouvement »", synchronise your bank accounts and justify every movement) links Novadesko to your bank in read-only mode. Once consent is given, your movements arrive several times a day, ready to be justified. Your credentials never pass through Novadesko: consent is given to the bank, through an authorised provider.

Bank Sync before any connection, then the connection window
  1. Until a bank is linked, the button is called Connect a bank.
  2. Click Connect a bank.
  3. The list of banks opens, with the Search for your bank… field.
  4. Click your bank.
  5. The list closes.
  6. Choose the Account Type: Business loan or Personal.
  7. On this device opens your bank’s website.
  8. Confirm the consent with your bank, Novadesko waits for its answer.

What you will do

  • Open Bank Sync and start « Connecter une banque » (connect a bank).
  • Choose the bank and the account type.
  • Confirm the consent on your bank's website.
  • Return to Novadesko and wait for the confirmation.

Connect a bank

  1. Open Bank Sync and click Connect a bank (Add a bank if a bank is already linked).
  2. In the list, type the name in "Search for your bank…" and click your bank.
  3. Choose the Account Type: Business loan or Personal. Your bank will only offer accounts of that type.
  4. Click On this device: your bank’s website opens. Sign in and accept the access to the accounts.
  5. Novadesko shows "Waiting for your bank…" then "Bank connected!", and your accounts appear.
Message Meaning
« Choisissez votre banque. » (choose your bank) No bank selected
« La banque n'a pas renvoyé de lien de consentement. » (the bank did not return a consent link) The provider could not open the flow; try again later
« La connexion a été refusée. » (the connection was refused) Consent refused or interrupted at the bank
« Temps dépassé. Réessayez. » (timed out, try again) No confirmation received after about four minutes
« Disponible à partir de la formule Pro » (available from the Pro plan) Bank synchronisation is not included in your plan; « Voir les formules » (see the plans)
Note

You can also start the connection from the dashboard, in the Link your bank account window: its Later button closes it without saving anything. See Bank link on the dashboard.

After the connection

The tiles at the top of the screen update: Transactions, Total in bank (with the balance date), Linked accounts, Credits (filter) and Debits (filter). The bank appears in the toolbar with its number of accounts, and Last sync shows the last read. The Refresh button in the header reloads the latest transactions synchronised by the server.

PSD2 regulation limits a consent in time, usually to 180 days. The bank can end it earlier, for example after an update of its systems, through no fault of yours.

  1. Novadesko warns you by email before it expires, then when the connection is interrupted.
  2. In Bank Sync, the bank concerned shows "Authorisation expired: reconnect".
  3. Click the bank, then Reconnect this bank, and go through the consent again.
Warning

Until the consent is renewed, no new transactions arrive and the balances shown stay those of the last successful synchronisation. Transactions already received and their justifications are kept.

What about the CODA file?

The Export menu of Bank Sync offers a PDF report, a CSV export and a CODA file (.cod) section. The CODA file itself is generated on web.novadesko.com ("The CODA file is generated on web.novadesko.com (Export · CODA file)."). Importing a CODA file manually is not offered in the app: your accounting firm can drop its CODA statements directly into its NovaFisko tool.
